Social Media The Concept Of Having Your Say And Staying Connected Online?

Any avenue that allows people to socialize together without necessarily being in the same proximity is social networking at its best or worst as it can bring out different personalities in people.

But the open forums do give people chances to expand their thoughts, business and personal or political agendas. Even the 2008 and 2012 United States Presidential election relied on social networking sites to get their political platforms out to the public.

How can social media websites help me personally?

Are you looking for new friends or have lost touch with friends from the past?
Then social media websites can work well for you personally. They are great ways to keep in touch with family, friends and even potentially new friends. No longer do you have to hit the streets or join organizations locally in order to connect with people socially.

The internet and websites can do this for you. It is very easy to find groups and forums that support your interests. And if you happen to have a business that needs some social networking connections... you are already set.

How does social media and social networking differ or are they the same?

Though you often see the terms 'social media' and 'social networking' used in different ways in reality they virtually the same. They are not exactly the same but they are closely enough linked that they work interchangeably for many purposes.

The media aspect is the actual method or medium of communication used whereas the networking is the actual social interaction. So it is easy to see where the two are very similar and often used together or in place of the other.

How has social media changed the way people think or act?

On the positive side social media has allowed more people to stay in contact with each other and has provided them with a great way to expand their networks. It allows for updated information to be passed between each other in an expedited fashion.

Yet there are some downsides. It is easy to pretend that the internet is completely anonymous yet news stories have shown this not be so.

You cannot say and do anything you want. You have to be aware that others are reading and watching what you have to say.

How business is changing the way they use social media
Corporations as well as small businesses are now developing social media policies that allow them to give their customers what they want, and not just within the narrow confines of their business relationship.
